It is Nice to see the Light

Today I was able to create the quiz and give my one student ( me) some grades. I also sent my instuctor Christi an email to have her join as a student. I am hoping that she will log in and throw up some fictisios assignments and give me a few hints for managing a course. I am also considering buying a book about moodle to help me with the many options.
Christi if you are reading this I messed up on the key for logging in(itec5070) no spaces. and the url for this site is:

Feeling Really Good about Moodle

Today I played around with more of the options, created a chat session, and an indivdual project for week 2 assignments. Therre are many more options available and the tutorial is wonderful. As I edit the page there are built in hints and the program even offers suggestions for asking questions and ect. I want to learn how to do the quiz option. Maybee soon.

A small Step

I now have a fictional course up and running, I have posted some reading and a response assignment. I have created one student, and I will continue to play around with the site and figure out how to do all of the cool things that you already now how to do with our class. Not as confused anymore.

Success-Moodle

Finally I got an account with moodle, and after several attempts at reading the tutorial I can start to set up the CMS for use. I hope that I will be able to use this to create a class for future use. Now I need to play around with the setting and figure out how it all works.

Moodle Hosting

Basically have had little to no luck finding acces to any cheap or free moodle hosting sites. I downloaded Moodle and I cant seem to find out how to run the program?? My next effort is to try one of the site I found, they have a help line and I can play around with moodle for one month and then cancel service with a full refund. As of today it sounds as if it is the best I can do.

Plan B

If my original Idea of using Moodel fails I will try to work on a web page idea that I need to create for our business academy.

A little lost

I have downloaded the Moodle software Package, and Im a little lost on how to get it to the server and do all of the set-ups that it requires. I am looking into one of the suggested hosting services that have make it easier to post and create classes, but it comes at a cost. Not sure if I want to spend the money, would rather just play around with it untill I have determined if I can use it. I will call the company and see if they offer a trail period for less money.

Next Generation CMS 2003

The article I read was on Next Generation CMS by Colleen Carmean and Jeremy Haefner(EduCause Quarterly, 2003.)The article was a little dated, but it drove home several problems with CMS as was in 2003. The suggested hypothetical fixes amazingly enough have been implemented in todays systems. Web Driven upload and Download, Speed, the ability to edit, comment, and track changes from within the CMS, uploading new documents in a new target window, simplified navigation, improved gradebook systems, skill level of designers are problems of the past. As of today, and as a new user of the CMS here at UW I have had little complaint about how the instructors are using the system. I am sure however those who are most closely in the field are always looking for that next generation of improved systems.

Eureka: CMS A step forward

Today I read a new article by Educause Evolving Technologies Committee, 2003. The article introduced the topic in terms a I could understand, and I now have a clear understanding of CMS's. I also looked at a suggested website that provides CMS software and the page allowed you to make comparisons. http://www.edutools.info/item_list.jsp?pj=8
Very Cool. My next step is to read one more article then start exploring softaware for a CMS.

Researching CMS's

Today I found a couple of articles to read, I am still a little confused about exactly how to use moodle after reading the article I read last week. Seems as if I need to use the school server or to set up my computer as a server which is an uncharted area of understanding on my part. I will continue to read and post comments about CMS's as I continue my journey.

What is a Course Management System

Feb 28, 2007
Today I am reading an article on course management sustems. The article is out of a journal called Science Teacher. The authors are Matthew Perkins and Jay Pfaffman, october 2006. Im nor quite sure how to use a course management system or if I can even use the one the atricle talks about, but it is my goal to try and use the Moodle program that the article discusses to mange a web page for a class.
